A Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (SESA) was carried out to assess: the likely positive and negative environmental and social impacts of these suggested Strategic Options; to generate recommendations to the REDD+ strategyto address any legal, institutional, regulatory and capacity gaps to manage these environmental and social impacts; and to provide inputs to the development of the REDD+ National Strategy and implementation planning process so that environmental and social factors are addressed appropriately in the future REDD+ plans. The following safeguards frameworks are being prepared to identify appropriate mitigation measures for the social and environmental risks under the National REDD+ Strategy: Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF), Process Framework (PF), Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF), and the Indigenous Peoples Planning Framework (IPPF).
