CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR DESIGN AND INSTALLATION OF DIRECT RECHARGE WELLS TO AUGMENT GROUNDWATER IN BUYENDE AND NAKASONGOLA DISTRICT
The Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) has allocated funds for undertaking applied research on replenishment of ground water aquifers through runoff harvesting. This project will be implemented in the districts with low groundwater potential. The consultancy Services will involve design and installation of recharged wells to augment groundwater in select sites in Buyende and Nakasogola districts.
The project is a pilot aiming at;
- Demonstration of groundwater recharge technology as a mechanism for improving groundwater quantity and quality
- Documentation of effectiveness of groundwater recharge as a technology for increasing infiltration of rainwater into the sub-surface
- Monitoring of the quality of water injected into the ground through recharge wells.
The proposed implementation period of the assignment is 6 months to commence upon signing the contract.
