Technical Site Inspection and Start-Up Meeting Held for Akore Valley Tank, Amudat District
Amudat, Uganda – 19 May 2026
Officials led by Eng. Wilson Tabaaro, Regional Manager, Water for Production Regional Centre – Karamoja, conducted a start-up meeting and technical site inspection for the ongoing construction of the Akore Valley Tank in Chamalian Village, Katabok Sub-County, Amudat District.
The meeting and inspection were held jointly with the implementing consultant to review works progress and assess compliance with project requirements.
Project Details
Capacity: 20,000 m³ storage valley tank
Funding: Government of Uganda and the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW
The following actions were identified
1. Implementation to ensure quality, safety, and timely delivery.
2. Workers’ Camp: Establish an official camp with basic amenities for project staff.
3. Site Protection: Install proper demarcation and restrict unauthorized access to the site area.
4. Safeguards: Operationalize plans for grievance management, waste management and health and safety.
5. Equipment Management: Mobilize equipment and strengthen operation and maintenance practices to reduce downtime and ensure continuity of works.
Note on Progress
The Akore Valley Tank and Atuktan Valley Tank were initially planned for concurrent implementation. To accelerate delivery, a decision was made to consolidate manpower and equipment at Akore Valley Tank first, before shifting resources to Atuktan Valley Tank in Amudat.
