On 26th August 2026, the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) through the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Regional Centre 4 - Wakiso (RWSSRC 4), together with Kyankwanzi District Local Government, conducted the technical handover of the Kikonge–Nakasero RGC and Bugomolwa RGC Water Supply Systems in Kyankwanzi District.The exercise was led by Eng. Ssekabemba Umaru, Deputy Manager, RWSSRC 4 – Wakiso, together with Mrs. Peruth Kabaale, Deputy Resident District Commissioner, and Mr. Semuyaba Samuel, District Chairperson, Kyankwanzi.
The Kikonge–Nakasero RGC Water Supply System is located in Bananywa Sub-county, while the Bugomolwa RGC Water Supply System is located in Nkandwa Sub-county. The two systems were implemented under the Integrated Water Management and Development Project (IWMDP), financed by the Government of Uganda and the World Bank, with the objective of improving access to safe and reliable water supply and sanitation services in the beneficiary communities.
The overall aim of this technical handover was to identify defects to be rectified by the contractor during the defects liability period. This intervention marks a significant milestone in improving access to clean water for the local communities.
The Ministry called upon the community and district leadership to ensure protection of the facilities against vandalism and to ensure sustainable operation and maintenance.
