LAUNCH OF THE GEF - FUNDED PROJECT: “FOSTERING WATER SECURITY AND CATCHMENT RESILIENCE IN UGANDA’s CATTLE CORRIDOR”

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Water and Environment; Dr. Alfred Okot Okidi represented the Minister of State for Water; Hon. Aisha Sekindi and launched the Project: “Fostering Water Security and Catchment Resilience in Uganda’s Cattle Corridor”.


The objective of the project is to promote sustainable and climate resilient land and water management in the Cattle Corridor of Uganda. This will enhance access to safe and clean water, resilient and sustainable alternative livelihoods, fostering policy coherence and local level climate adaptation, strengthening coordination and knowledge management, and deploying a gender sensitive monitoring and evaluation system. 


The project, which commenced in April 2026 and ends in September 2031, will be implemented by the Ministry of Water and Environment in partnership with Africa Innovations Institute (AfrII), Victoria Basin Facility and JC Holdings Limited with funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) through Conservation International.
