Meteorological Services

Dear Department of Meteorological Services (DMS) Stakeholder; The Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) through the Department of Meteorological Services (DMS), wishes to inform the general public, government institutions, development partners, private sector stakeholders, and the media that the World Meteorological Organisation and the global climate monitoring centres are indicating that there is an increased likelihood of the development of an EI Nino event during the second half of 2026, with a possible persistence into 2027. In this document, a summary of the main weather and climate events that occurred in Uganda during the calendar year of 2022 is provided. The major weather and climate events are documented using observed rainfall and temperature data in line with ACMAD and WMO, including reports from meteorological stations across the country.
