The Water and Sanitation Development Facility - North (WSDF-N) led a monitoring mission by the EU Heads of Cooperation and KfW in Northern Uganda.

The delegation comprised the European Union Head of Cooperation, Heads of Cooperation from partner EU member states of Germany, Ireland, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Italy & France, the KfW delegation led by the Head of Portfolio for West and East Africa.

The purpose of the mission was to monitor progress of ongoing works and assess the functionality and impact of completed water supply systems.

During the mission, the team visited the following key project sites:

1.Yumbe Secondary School, where they commissioned the EU-funded WASH Infrastructure in Schools Project.

2.Zeu Rural Growth Centre (RGC) Piped Water Supply System in Zombo District.

3.Odramacaku Water Supply System in Arua District.

4.Enyau Dam in Arua City.

5.Rhino Camp Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant in Madi Okollo

6.Ongoing construction works at Bobi Regional Water Quality Laboratory in Omoro District.

7.EU WASH Infrastructure in Schools in Omoro District.

8.Loro Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant in Oyam District.

9.Kole Piped Water Supply System in Kole District.

10.Participated in the National Cleaning Day exercise in Lira City alongside the Ministry of Water and Environment Northern Regional Office staff.

The mission reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Government of Uganda and its development partners - the European Union, EU member states, EU member states of Germany, Ireland, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Italy & France in delivering sustainable water and sanitation services for all.
