
Nyamugasani water supply and sanitation system
The Ministry of Water received funding from the Workd Bank under IWMDP, and part of the funds were allocated to the construction of a Nyamugasani water supply and sanitation system in Kasese district. The project is to serve 8 sub-counties and 3 Town Councils in Kasese district.
The project is being constructed under two lots; Lot I awarded to Zhongmei Eng. Group Ltd and Lot II awarded to Zhonghao Overseas Construction Ltd. It commenced in August 2024 for a period of 16months.
Project Scope:
Lot I: Intake structure, raw water main, water treatment plant,16.4km of Transmission pipeline, 5No. Steel reservoir tanks, 37km of Primary distribution, 1500 HH connections and 16No. Institutional sanitation facilities.
Lot II: 38.2km of Transmission Pipeline, 6No. Steel reservoir tanks; 105km of Primary Distribution pipeline; 1500HH connections and 16No. sanitation facilities.
Ministry and Kasese Local Government officials led by the Contract Manager Eng. Carolyn Kasisira held the 14th site inspection and visit on 24th and 25th Sept. 2025. Under Lot I, the team inspected the intake structure that is currently at 80% completion; the water treatment plant with works ongoing on the aerator, flocculation chambers, sedimentation tanks, clear water tank, sludge drying bed; rapid sand filters and the Automatic Valveless Gravity Filter; Kyarumba Reservoir tank(275m3)and sanitation facilities at Kinyabisiki PS and Kisinga PS. Progress under Lot I is at 75%
Under Lot II, the team inspected Kikorongo Reservoir tank (400m3), Kilhambairo reservoir (125m3), Mughete reservoir tank (225m3) and Kinyateke PS sanitation facility. Progress in Lot II is at 78%.
