
ILMAC Project Kick-off Inception Meeting
Today, the Ag. Commissioner Water Utility Regulation Department; Dr. Eng. Kweronda Frank represented the Permanent Secretary; Dr. Alfred Okot Okidi and officiated at the Kick- off/ Inception Meeting for Implementation of the Project Preparation Facility (PPF) for the Integrated Landscape Management Approach for Climate-Resilient Water Security and Livelihoods in Uganda Cattle Corridor (ILMAC) Project.
The main objective of the kick-off meeting was to officially launch the ILMAC Project Preparation process in order to build stakeholder participation and ownership in the process.
The specific objectives were to:
- Introduce the ILMAC Project, PPF activities and implementation arrangements.
- Share the detailed roadmap and timelines for all PPF studies.
- Clarify the coordination, reporting and communication arrangements between MWE and UNOPS.
- Provide a platform for initial stakeholder feedback and input into the process.
The Ministry of Water and Environment with support from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) through the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is implementing the Project.
The Project will focus on building and rehabilitating critical water sources, including boreholes, earth dams, valley tanks and solar powered irrigation schemes to enhance water availability and resilience among local communities.
