7th Site Inspection for Kitega RGC Water Supply and Sanitation System Project

The Ministry of Water and Environment through its Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department with funding from the World Bank is implementing Kitega Rural Growth Centre (RGC) Water Supply and Sanitation System project in Kaliro District.

Led by Eng. David Bateganya the Project Engineer, officials conducted the 7th site inspection of the system to review the project’s progress, which currently stands at 80% completion.

Project Overview

The Kitega RGC project aims to address critical water scarcity and sanitation challenges in 16 villages across 5 parishes in Bukamba Sub County. The project will supply clean water to approximately 16 villages, benefiting thousands of people. Upon completion, the project will be handed over to the Umbrella of Water and Sanitation East for operation and maintenance.

  • Conventional Water Treatment Plant with a capacity of 1223m3 per day

  • Storage Reservoir Tank

  • 2No. 6 Stance Water Borne Toilets
  • Environmental and Social Safeguards

Impact

The project is expected to improve the social and economic lifestyle of the beneficiary communities by providing access to clean water and sanitation services, promoting better health outcomes, and fostering sustainable economic growth.

During his remarks the RDC Mr. Matende Thomas thanked the Government and Ministry for this mega project, highlighting its potential to transform the lives of the people in Kaliro District.
