
Kakumiro District Celebrates Launch of Clean Water Supply System for 63 Villages in Kakumiro District.
Today, Kakumiro District has celebrated the launch of a clean water supply system benefiting 63 villages across the District. Kakumiro Water Supply System implemented by the Ministry of Water and Environment through the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department, has been commissioned, marking a major improvement in access to safe and clean water for local communities.
The project was contracted to M/s Shakti Pumps India Ltd to implement works with funding from Government of Uganda and support from EXIM BANK of India.
The system utilizes solar-powered technology hence enhancing sustainability in rural areas. It serves villages in Kikwaya Sub-County, Kakindo-Igomba Town Council, Igayaza Town Council and Birembo Sub-County.
The launch was graced by Mr.Franicis Kibuuka RDC kakumiro who was representing the Prime Minister Hon. Robinah Nabbanja. During his speech, the RDC expressed his gratitude for the project, highlighting its positive impact on community health and livelihoods.
Others present at the event included; Kakumiro District leadership, local leaders, officials from the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department led by Eng. David Bateganya project engineer and representative of the PS-MWE Dr. Alfred Okot Okidi, representatives from EXIM Bank of India and other stakeholders.
The project was handed over to the District for operation and maintainence.
