This is the second issue of  the Water Report / Water Buletin as it is now named. The first Water Report/Bulletin was issued in March 2011 to inform about the various programs, activities and success stories of the sector as well as the prospects of the Directorate. This second issue continue the trend set with the intention to update the public of the achievement of the Directorate.

The general public is informed that all those involved in the business of drilling boreholes in Uganda have to apply for DRILLING PERMITS before they embark on any water well drilling activities. Drilling Permits are issued annually (1st July to 30th June) after submitting an application to the Director, Directorate of Water Resources Management and meeting all requirements for engaging in borehole drilling activities in Uganda. The following is therefore a list of drilling companies with valid drilling permits for the period 1st July 2016 to 30 June 2017.

The Environment Protection Force (EPF) was commissioned on 21st December 2011 by the Minister for Water and Environment, Honourable Maria Mutagamba. The EPF is the first of its kind in the history of Natural Resources Management and conservation in Uganda as a sector specific Protection Force, whose main purpose will be to ensure compliance with  environmental and conservation laws. This is within the goal of maintaining a clean, healthy, safe and productive environment for all citizens as stated in the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.

The Ministry of Water and Environment will hold its 3rd GOU / Development Partners Joint Review From 11th - 13th October 2011  at the Imperial Royal Hotel, Kampala. The main objective of the Review will be to assess performance of the sector during the 2010/11 financial year, discuss the main challenges and recommend appropriate actions to address the challenges.
