Kampala is the largest Area of NWSC operations and accounts for 65 % of the Corporation’s revenue. The Area has 10 branches and a number of other sub-branches and serves about 1,357,450 people or 85 % of the urban population in Kampala, and also 142,360 people in Mukono TC and Kira Sub-County in Wakiso District. Kampala Water was contracted to manage the Kampala Water and Sewerage Services Area (KWSSA) on behalf of NWSC in 2006 under the second phase of Internally Delegated Area Management Contract (IDMAC II).

Kayunga District is located in the central northern part of the Central Region of Uganda and is bordered by River Nile in the East and Lake Kyoga in the North. It is made up of one county with eight sub-counties and two town councils. Kayunga has a population of 344,600 of which 67 % has access  to safe water. The access rates vary from 46 % in Wabwoko-Kitimbwa Sub-County to 95 % in Kangulumira Sub-County and Kayunga TC. The functionality rate in urban and rural areas is 86 % and 81 % respectively.

Kiboga District is located in the western part of the Central Region of Uganda and is made up of one county, 13 sub-counties and two town Councils. Kiboga has a population of 319,600 of which 59 % has access to safe water. The access rates vary from 26 % in Nsambya Sub-County to
95 % in Kiboga TC and Mulagi Sub-County. The functionality rate in urban and rural areas is 88 % and 75 % respectively.

Luwero District is situated in the central part of the Central Region of Uganda. The district is made up of 2 counties with 10 sub-counties as well as 3 town councils and has a population of 418,000 of which 75 % has access to safe water. The access rates vary from 39 % in Kamira Sub-County to 95 % in Bombo, Luwero and Wobulenzi TCs. The functionality rate in urban and rural areas is 85 % and 80 % respectively.

Lyantonde District is located in the western part of the Central Region of Uganda and has a population of 77,100 of which 51 % has access to safe water. It comprises one county, five sub-counties and one town council. In general terms, Kabula County is a water stressed area since a sizeable part of the county is located in the dry cattle corridor. It often experiences long spells of drought. These, with a couple of other factors, including the land tenure system (ranches occupy more than 31 % of the land in the district) are responsible for the low population levels in Lyantonde District.

Mityana District is located in the eastern part of the Central Region of Uganda. The district has two counties with eight sub-counties as well as one town council. Its population is estimated at 301,800 of which 72 % has access to safe water. The access rates vary from 34 % in Bulera Sub-County to 95 % in Butayunja, Kakindu and Busimbi Sub-Counties. Mpigi District is situated in the center of the Central Region of Uganda. It is made up of 3 counties, 16 sub-counties and 3 town councils. The district lies on the shores of Lake Victoria and is traversed by the equator at Kayabwe in Nkozi Sub-County. The district has a population of 454,800 of which 81 % has access to safe water.  The access rates vary from 55 % in Buwama Sub-County to 95 % in Budde, Bulo, Kalamba, Kibibi, Ngando, Mpenja, Kamengo, Kiringente, Kituntu, Mpigi and Muduma Sub-Counties. Mubende District is located in the western part of the Central Region of Uganda. It comprises two counties with ten sub-counties and one town council. Its population is estimated at 566,600 of which 36 % has access to safe water. The district has a poor ground water potential especially in the areas of Kasambya, Myanzi, Kitenga and Kiganda. The access rates vary from 12 % in Kiganda Sub-County to 80 % in Kiyuni Sub-County. The functionality rate in urban and rural areas is 96 % and 72 % respectively.

The northern part of the district lies within the cattle corridor.
