The study was carried out to support the Directorate of Water Resource Management (DWRM) in operationalising the copcept of catchment based water resource management in four Water Management Zones (WMZ) containing catchments and sub-catchments. This study builds on the recommendations of the 2009 Catchment Based Water Resource Management Institutional Assessment study to de-concentrate DWRM functions and services through the four WMZs and to mobilize support, establish WMZs and other operational structures in catchments within two years, develop and begin implemention of catchment based strategies.

The general public is informed that all those involved in the business of drilling boreholes in Uganda have to apply for DRILLING PERMITS before they embark on any water well drilling activities. Drilling Permits are issued annually (1st July to 30th June) after submitting an application to the Director, Directorate of Water Resources Management and meeting all requirements for engaging in borehole drilling activities in Uganda. The following is therefore a list of drilling companies with valid drilling permits for the period 1st July 2016 to 30 June 2017.

Complete this form if you want to apply for a permit to discharge, for a new discharge or for a variation to an existing permit to discharge under the Water (Waste Discharges) Regulations. You will also have to complete Attachment A, B, C, or D. A different form is required for trade effluents discharged to sewer for treatment at Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant.

A permit is required for each separate discharge. If you currently discharge or propose to discharge from more than one point, then a separate application form must be completed for each and every discharge.
